Student Assessment and Placement Policy 4.13
- A student applies
for admission to HCTC and completes his admission file.
- If ACT scores are
available, they are checked to determine whether the student must
take another placement assessment.
- If COMPASS assessment
is needed, students must determine whether he wishes to pursue
a diploma/certificate or a degree.
- Admissions staff will
register students for test sessions.
- Upon completion of
assessment, the Testing Coordinator will print three copies of
test results: one copy to be kept in his/her file; one copy for
the Record's Office; and one for the student.
- The testing center
will remind the student to return to admissions on Orientation/Registration
dates to be directed to an advisor for setting up his or her course
schedule.
- An advisor is assigned
by the Office of Academic Affairs.
- On Orientation/Registration
days and/or other advising dates, the advisor will assist each
of his or her assigned advisees in developing a schedule of courses
appropriate for the student's program and placement. The
academic advisor must grant enrollment permission in PeopleSoft
for the advisee to register.
