Surgical
Technology Program
Associate
Degree in Applied Science
Mission
Statement:
The
mission of the Surgical Technology Program is to collaborate
with Kentucky internal people and external healthcare facilities
to work toward meeting the communities demand within the service
area for surgical technologists. The program emphasizes surgical
technique, quality patient care and professional development.
General
Information:
Lecture
courses provide opportunity for learning theoretical concepts
and for development of cognitive skills. Laboratory courses
provide opportunities for application of theoretical concepts
and cognitive skills as well as for the development of optimal
affective and psychomotor abilities needed to meet current industry
standards. In addition, campus and clinical laboratory courses
provide opportunities for development of critical thinking and
problem solving skills through a variety of hands-on applications.
Clinical experiences in the Surgical Technology Program will
consist of rotations through a variety of clinical sites designed
to facilitate development of skills needed to function effectively.
Graduates will be prepared to work in surgical technologist
roles anywhere in the country.
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and
from clinical sites.
Expenses
and Financial Assistance:
In
addition to tuition, students are responsible for transportation
to the various clinical sites, professional liability insurance,
books, and uniforms. Any student seeking financial assistance
should contact the Financial Aid Office at
436-5721,
extension 73061 or 73060.

providing educational opportunities to all qualified students
regardless of economic or social status, and will not discriminate
on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, marital status,
