accept a familiar mission. In August of 2004, the Kentucky School of Craft began offering classes in this newly renovated structure. In 2054, we’ll still be celebrating the success of people that pass through those arches. Congratulations Knott County. |

In 1930, the community of Hindman, KY dedicated a new school building whose mission was to the education of the young people of Knott County. A beautiful native stone structure, the building became a proud reminder of dreams and hard work for each graduating class. The ornately forged iron gates that graced the north and west entrances swung wide for over 45 years as students passed through the arches one last time and took their places in life as successful teachers, business owners, employees, mothers, fathers and community members. chilling breezes blowing from the courtyard as they changed classes; the not-so-sure feeling, descending the stairs to the bathrooms; or the thrill of watching the 1943 basketball team fight its way to the state championship. Yes, it is a beautiful building and a monument to the students, teachers and principals that called it home for so many years. And now, this proud, old, structure is standing tall once again- ready to heed the call for education. The dreams of a new group of students are becoming a reality inside its walls.
